8 Things That Happened Since May - Thanks to A Strong Community
Amazing volunteers like you are helping to make saving the Drew Forest possible. Here are a few of the things we’ve accomplished since May:
- Designed a logo and website. Got tech skills? We still need help.
- Created a petition with over 10,700 signatures. The town council is watching. This is a critical tool, so keep sharing with your networks.
- Went big on social media. Are you following us on Instagram, FB and LinkedIn?
- Tabled at the Farmer’s Market. Right now, we’re braving the cold at the Rotary Christmas Tree sale. Want to take a shift?
- Commented at council meetings. Remarks from residents and Drew alums drove the news cycle. Can you help?
- Aired opinions--lots of them. Our latest op-ed was published in NJ’s largest newspaper, the Star Ledger.
- Designed a float. The Madison Christmas Parade was mobbed--we handed out 500 petition flyers in a heartbeat.
- Created a newsletter! Can you share this with your friends so we can spread the word about why trees (and forests) matter?
Recommendations for nature lovers alike.
- A membership to the Native Plant Society of New Jersey. Become a part of the growing national native plant movement.
- Plants from local plant nurseries, shipped to your front door. Native plants are a great gift for your loved ones, your yard, and our Earth. Toadshade Wildflower Farm in Frenchtown, NJ will be shipping seeds all winter long; wintertime is the best season to start wildflower seeds!
- Adopt a bird through the Audubon Adoption Center. Each adoption contributes to the National Audubon Society’s critical conservation work — and you’ll receive a plush bird as a symbol of your generous gift.
- Recommended reading. Books we love about forests. - Nature’s Best Hope
You’ll never look at your local landscape the same way.
- The Overstory
