Winter Wonderland in the Drew Forest
From the Jan. 6, 2023 meeting of the Madison Borough Council: a tribute to Winter Wonderland, written by Christine Hepburn for Friends of the Drew Forest. They’re accompanied by guitarist David Thomson, a Drew grad and singer/songwriter from Chatham Borough. Sing along with the lyrics below!
In Drew Woods, carbon’s captured.
In Drew Woods, we’re enraptured.
We need it to stay, and not go away,
Help us save this healthy habitat!
It has so many features,
Home to so many creatures.
It brings peace and cheer, throughout the whole year.
Help us save this healthy habitat!
In the forest, you see many species -
turtles, herons, ducks and native bees.
Also living wonders that you can’t see.
Drew Forest nurtures great diversity.
What if you’re an amphibian?
Can not fly to the Caribbean.
You need all those trees that send down their leaves.
Living in your healthy habitat.
In the forest, you can see that water
Gets absorbed when it is pouring down.
Which is very helpful, even better -
The aquifer is recharged for our town.
It has so many features,
Home to so many creatures.
It brings peace and cheer throughout the whole year.
Help us save this healthy habitat!
Help us save this healthy habitat!
Help us save this healthy habitat!
